Back to normal

In the last year, a lot has happened at the Home of Joy. After two years of corona-related school closure, our children were finally allowed to attend school again. Thanks to home schooling, all of them were able to skip a grade, which is great since most of the children are a few years older than their classmates because many of them started school later.

We also want to educate our employees. In May 2022, we invited a doctor to educate the Home of Joy team on the prevention and treatment of malaria and trained them in first aid. This year, we plan to train in mental and psychosocial health so that our team can also better support the children with mental health issues and trauma.

Four new children have been admitted to the Home of Joy. We are very happy to be able to offer them a sheltered home. Our five oldest children are now living outside the orphanage. Since they are older than 18 years, they now live together with our project leader. They all started school late and have therefore not yet completed their compulsory education. We want to support them and accompany them on their way to a self-determined life. Taban has just finished school with the best grade and is now in collage to get the university entrance qualification so he can study medicine. For our older children we are still looking for sponsors.
