Children Around 30 orphans currently live in our main house. The three-storey house was built at the time to accommodate up to 100 children. However, as two floors are currently occupied by the school because there are no other classrooms available nearby, we are unable to take in any additional children. As soon as the situation here changes with the construction of a new school, we would like to offer 10 to 20 additional children a home as a first step. Due to the corona pandemic, these plans have now been delayed. We would like to employ specialist medical staff (physiotherapy, occupational therapy) for the disabled children. We will continue to try to improve the situation for the children in this area. The construction of an infirmary near the orphanage may open up opportunities for cooperation here. Infrastructure In 2020, we were able to redesign the kitchen and dining area thanks to the support of the Kolin Foundation in Zug. We would now like to invest a lot more in this area so that the children have a place sheltered from the rain for homework, games, music and dance (costs around CHF 25,000).

LIVIA

My time at the "Home of Joy" children's home in Uganda was a formative and enriching experience. During my stay, I was not only able to make a direct contribution to the children's everyday lives, but also gain valuable insights into a different culture and way of life.

I helped look after the children, assisted with everyday tasks and organized playful and creative activities. I was particularly impressed by the warmth and joie de vivre of the children and the commitment of the staff. On site, I experienced a caring and supportive environment in which solidarity and mutual appreciation were tangible.

This experience broadened my view of the world and showed me how important interpersonal commitment is. I am very grateful for my time at the "Home of Joy" - it made me grow personally and I will always remember it.
