In Uganda, too, 2020 went completely differently than planned. All schools have been closed since spring and children are being taught at home.
Thanks to the reopening of our "Home of Joy" facility in January 2019, the children are in good hands in a safe place with a good infrastructure and plenty of space. The children are taught at home at the appropriate level. It is important to the local team to challenge the children academically as well as creatively and athletically. Among other things, the time is used to keep the garden in shape, make music or play sport. We are very pleased that we built a sports field right next to our orphanage last year. Our children, but also the children from the village, can now benefit from it.
The planning work for the establishment of a new elementary school is in full swing and we hope to be able to inform you about this soon.
We are very pleased that the planned corn mill could be realized thanks to the support of a partner foundation.
Unfortunately, it was not possible for the Board of Trustees to travel to Uganda this year. However, thanks to the new technologies, we are very well informed about the ongoing projects and can support our team on site with advice and assistance.
We would like to thank the whole team for their extraordinary commitment.
