Under the sign of Covid-19

In India, too, 2020 has turned out completely differently than expected. All schools have been closed since spring and children have had to stay at home. Our orphans are in the fortunate position of being accommodated in a safe place during the long lockdown at home in the "Mothers Nest" orphanage. The caregivers are doing their best to teach the children and keep them in good spirits. It's great to see the older children interacting with the younger ones. We are glad that none of our Mothers Nest family has fallen seriously ill.

Despite the lockdown, the monthly meetings of HIV-positive women at our school have largely been able to take place. We are very happy about this, as social interaction is particularly important for them.

As can be seen in the photo above, the planned roofing of the recreation room has been completed.

Unfortunately, we on the Board of Trustees were unable to travel to India in person this year. However, we are in regular contact with Joseph, the director of the home, and are therefore informed about all matters.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Joseph and the whole team for their exceptional commitment during this extraordinary year.

LIVIA

My time at the "Home of Joy" children's home in Uganda was a formative and enriching experience. During my stay, I was not only able to make a direct contribution to the children's everyday lives, but also gain valuable insights into a different culture and way of life.

I helped look after the children, assisted with everyday tasks and organized playful and creative activities. I was particularly impressed by the warmth and joie de vivre of the children and the commitment of the staff. On site, I experienced a caring and supportive environment in which solidarity and mutual appreciation were tangible.

This experience broadened my view of the world and showed me how important interpersonal commitment is. I am very grateful for my time at the "Home of Joy" - it made me grow personally and I will always remember it.
